Adoption fee of $ 10 in place for the month of adoption of a shelter dog: county
MANATEE COUNTY, FL – To celebrate October as dog adoption month from a shelter, Manatee County Animal Services has reduced the adoption fee for all dogs to $ 10.
Currently, the MCAS has 92 dogs and 114 cats at the shelter, according to a press release from the county.
Residents of Manatee County must obtain a license for their new pet for an additional fee of $ 20. All animals will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped – valued at over $ 300.
The Palmetto Adoption Center and Shelter, 305 25th Street West in Palmetto, and Manatee County Cat Town, 216 6th Avenue East in Bradenton, can be visited by appointment only.

MCAS is the only open-admission shelter in Manatee County, hosting an average of seven animals per day in 2020.
The mission of MCAS is to maintain public health and safety through the enforcement of laws and ordinances relating to animals, to issue and maintain records for annual pet licenses, to promote responsible possession of pets, promote adoptions and reduce pet overpopulation.
Programs offered by MCAS include the Pet Pantry, which provides free food and supplies to pet owners facing financial and housing challenges, and the Rescue Transfer Program, which pairs the agency with rescues from animals and shelters in the region.
The MCAS currently has 130 partners who accepted 665 pets last year. For calendar year 2020, MCAS recorded a savings rate of 93%.
