Blood drives – Portland Press Herald

IN THE STATE
The American Red Cross urgently needs blood to save lives amid the ongoing severe blood shortage. Blood and platelet donations continue to be essential to meet hospital demand and the public is encouraged to make an appointment to donate now. Make an appointment to donate blood or platelets using the Red Cross blood donation app, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by activating the blood donation skill on any Alexa Echo device.
In most cases, those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine can donate. However, it is important to know the name of the manufacturer of the vaccine received to determine eligibility for donation.
