Gun Lake Casino donates $ 39.5,000 to local security agencies

WAYLAND – Gun Lake Casino has once again given back to the community in which it operates.

The casino announced on Tuesday August 17 that it had donated more than $ 39,500 to four local public safety agencies, including the Allegan City Police Department, the Allegan County Search and Rescue Service, the service Leighton Township Fire Department and the Hopkins Area Fire Department.

Each monetary donation was intended for a specific purpose. Allegan Town Police Department will use $ 7,158 to purchase an advanced drone, while Allegan County Search and Rescue will use $ 1,000 to assist local police and fire departments with searches rescue services for missing persons.

Most of the donation money went to the Leighton Township Fire Department and the Hopkins Area Fire Department, who together received $ 31,436 to purchase two LUCAS chest compression systems.

First responders demonstrate the utility of a LUCAS machine.  The CPR device is designed to mechanically deliver precise and consistent chest compressions to a cardiac arrest victim.

“With such a large area relying on volunteer first responders, and often EMS coming from 12 miles away, this rescue device will allow our limited first responders to provide high quality care and free up responders to provide emergency response. ‘other care needed by the patient,’ said Matt Weston, Fire Chief with the Township of Leighton Fire Department.

The machine is a CPR device designed to mechanically deliver precise and consistent chest compressions to a cardiac arrest victim. LUCAS can be placed on a patient while CPR is being administered, and once in place, the machine will give consistent compressions to the patient without exhaustion.
