Ministry of Emergencies plans rescue centers at Arctic oil and gas facilities – Society & Culture
MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. Arctic rescue centers could be organized near oil and gas production facilities in Russia’s north, acting Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Chupriyan told a meeting on Wednesday. ministerial.
“We worked on the Arctic centers of the existing Sabetta gas cluster in the Yamalo-Nenets region, as well as the emergency and rescue infrastructure of the Bukhta Sever oil production facilities (Rosneft’s Port Bukhta Sever Oil Terminal) , 40 kilometers south of Dikson in the Krasnoyarsk region,” he said at the meeting, which was attended by the Russian president.
The construction of an arctic complex in Pevek is underway. The center should be commissioned before 2024.
“By implementing these projects, we will ensure professional rescue forces and emergency aircraft on the northern sea route and at the most important infrastructures,” he added.
The ministry worked on emergency and rescue projects in the Arctic jointly with the companies Novatek and Rosneft.
Earlier, the Acting Minister announced that ten Arctic rescue centers are almost ready and ten more centers will be built on top of that. Each center will have direct access to an airfield or airport with emergency aircraft.
