NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 Clear the Shelters campaign returns August 23 – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 will present their popular Clear The Shelters ™ campaign from August 23 through September 19. This is the seventh consecutive year that the popular pet adoption campaign has taken place in communities across the region.

Since 2015, NBC 5 and Telemundo 39’s local Clear The Shelters campaign has helped nearly 45,000 animals find new homes. Nationally, more than half a million pets have been adopted. Visit ClearTheShelters.com for more information.

“This annual campaign has helped thousands of people in our community adopt homeless pets each year from overcrowded animal shelters,” said Tom Ehlmann, president and CEO of NBC 5 and Telemundo 39. “It’s” is our privilege to raise awareness of this major issue that hinders many local shelters.
By partnering with them, we hope to alleviate the overcrowding and financial constraints that many of them experience at this time of year. “

This year, Clear The Shelters will once again be offering online donations through fundraising partner Greater Good Charities. Those interested in donating to a participating shelter or rescue can visit the Greater Good Charities donation site during the campaign at ClearTheSheltersFund.org, which will also be accessible through ClearTheShelters.com. Hill’s Pet Nutrition is the national sponsor of its fourth Clear The Shelters campaign this year.

Virtual pet adoptions are also back for the 2021 campaign via partner WeRescue. The WeRescue app allowed users to locate adoptable animals in their area, submit their adoption requests, and ask questions directly to shelters. iHeartDogs, a former partner of Clear The Shelters, will be donating necessary pet supplies to select shelters again this year. Leading social media animal brand, The Dodo, will once again serve as a media partner.

The total of local fundraisers and the number of pets adopted from shelters in the area via virtual and in-person adoptions will be announced by the stations after the conclusion of Clear The Shelters.
