New Year’s rescue brings 58 dogs, cats and rabbits to animal friends – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Dozens of dogs, cats and rabbits at Animal Friends end 2021 with new hope for 2022.

The Animal Friends New Years Rescue returned in 2021 after a hiatus last year. It was the 25th year that they had organized the event.

The new residents have come to Animal Friends from partner groups across the region, who have brought 58 new friends to the shelter to free up space so rescues can continue into the next year.

Supporters and volunteers scrambled with adoptable cats and dogs and visited the “bun run” to meet the rabbits in search of their forever homes.

If you are planning to start the New Year with a new friend, now is the perfect time.

“We always encourage people during the holidays and right after the New Year to bring the whole family to meet our animal residents. If you’re looking to add a new pet to your family, the dogs, cats and rabbits here are always eager to meet people and find loving homes, ”said Cody Hoellerman, Head of Community Engagement at ‘Animal Friends.

The organization says if you can’t adopt a new friend, you can help them continue their lifesaving work through donations.
