Robert ‘Bob’ Lowery, a 46-year-old man from Houston, had not been seen since August 20, according to groups of volunteers from Teton County Search & Rescue, who helped find Petito’s body earlier this month.

Coverage of Petito’s disappearance helped locate Lowery, officials from Teton County Search & Rescue said in a press release Tuesday.

An investigation into Lowery’s whereabouts is underway with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, but reports that Lowery may have been on the Black Canyon Trail at Teton Pass have prompted a new search effort. At around 1 p.m., after a four-hour search on foot, a team with a search dog found a body matching Lowery’s description on a steep, wooded off-trail slope. Collectively, the Teton County SAR says the volunteers hiked over 75 miles and hiked 22,500 feet in elevation.

Authorities are awaiting verification that the body is Lowery’s, but his family has been notified. The cause of his death is currently unknown.
