The Cornwall Search and Rescue team won the final

A Penzance-based building materials dealer has selected a Cornish search and rescue team as a finalist in their latest competition.

RGB Building Supplies has selected the St Day-based West Cornwall Search and Rescue team as a finalist in its Surprise Supplies competition and it is now up to a public vote to see if this is one of the two. charities chosen to receive £ 1,000 of building materials.

The West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team is a domestic resource and supports the police, fire and ambulance services with search, rescue and emergency response throughout the region.

The association is run entirely by volunteers and all equipment, vehicles and its base are funded by voluntary donations.

This means that donations are used to run the team and not to invest in development projects.

The association would like to build a drying room at its base, which would provide a specially designed space where the team could properly dry the wet kit, especially the water and rope rescue equipment.

This is an essential safety kit that must be properly maintained and maintained and the lack of proper drying facilities is a big concern for the team.

If voted as a winner of Surprise Supplies, the charity will use the £ 1,000 for materials needed for the project.
